Take Control Of Asthma

Pros & Cons of Dulera – Is there another alternative?

Recently, FDA, the Food and Drug Administration passed a drug that can help one take control of asthma, a non-curable but commonly known disease. The name is Dulera. Its addition to a short list of other treatments that all have the same objective, such as Advair, Foradil Symbicort, and Serevent, to reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. But the ingredients drastically separate these medicines to which are the lesser of evils. I have family members and close friends that face mild to severe asthma, once I was aware of this new development, I became very intrigued to learn more.

Well, Merck & Co. developed Dulera as the new breakthrough treatment for helping those with mild to severe uncontrolled asthma manage and reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. The drug contains two prime components, both with their own unique function . With careful moderation, the use of this dual ingredient treatment eventually clearing inflammatory from the lungs and airways, to breathe more easily. But there’s one little (big) setback with Dulera, your life could be at stake!

Similar to the other popular asthma treatment, Serevent and Foradil, Dulera consists one of the main deadly component, formoterol fumarate. This risky drug stems from the Long-Acting Beta Agonist (LABAs) known to secretly cause build up of additional inflammation in the air passages causing severe damage, ultimately death. Containment of this single element has given Dulera, and competitors, the highest warning label by FDA standards. FDA authorize Dulera to packaged itself in an all black box and have a detailed warning content label stating the risk of consumption, the aforementioned risk above according to FDA.org.

The lesser of the two, inhaled corticosteroid, is the second component comprising of Dulera. It acts as a balancing act of the two in a way made up of mometasome furoate. This ingredient acts as a helping agent to open airways from the inflammatory build up that cause asthma attacks, by relaxing the muscles in the lungs and air passages to be able to comfortably breathe.

With a more knowledge than what I started with about Dulera, I would strongly recommend this treatment to loved ones. This treatment seems to have the complete solution in just one single puff. But beware, once asthma is sustained and able to control with a single ingredient remedy of inhaled corticosteroid, reduce use of Dulera. The consequences are deadly.

Studies have shown that certain groups of food increase asthma symptons such as milk, gluten, and eggs. Madeline Binder, contributor of this article and owner of www.super-science-fair-projects.com, has severe asthma and finds that eliminating these foods from her diet she is able to keep her ashtma under control. She explains her experiment: experiment, “I eliminated one food group at a time to see if there was a difference in my symptoms while staying on my meds. Then, under the supervision of my doctor, I gradually came off the meds.”
