Many people around the world lead a stressful life and if you are one of them, you can try meditation. Meditation has the power to transform your life and make a huge difference. It is however essential to know how to meditate in a proper manner for best results. Meditation must also be practiced on a regular basis. There are many meditation methods and techniques taught by different masters.

meditation to beat stress

It is important for you to know the right method to ensure that your meditation is effective. In other words, if you know the right meditation techniques then you should be able to do them effortlessly. With many types of meditations taught today, it is up to you to choose ones that you are comfortable with. Meditation can provide you with ultimate relaxation and aid with your spiritual growth.

Meditation is a natural activity that keeps you connected to your deeper inner self. If you meditate on a regular basis, you will find yourself making important decisions with better clarity. You will get connected to your inner powers and enjoy greater clarity with regard to your surroundings through guided meditation. Earlier, saints used to meditate in order to remain connected to the higher powers or God. Today, many take to meditation to get rid of their day to day anxiety and stress.

Any meditation done for stress relief and good health is designed to relax your senses. It is important to keep your back straight while meditating. Choose the best technique to ensure optimum health and fitness. Many meditation instructors will first ask you to concentrate on a point with closed eyes.

As you practice meditation techniques, choose an area that is very calm and peaceful. This is important because while you meditate, there should not be any disturbance that may distract you. It is important to set a time which will be dedicated only for meditation. You might have a busy schedule but you can at least spend ten to fifteen minutes on meditation. You will be surprised to see the results after a few months of regular meditation. Here are a few steps to follow while meditating:

meditation to beat stress

First get comfortable with the meditation you choose. Only then can you focus on the activity. Find a place that is best suited for meditation. Sit with your spine straight in alignment with your head. Relax your palms and place them on your lap.

It is imperative to turn off the television, radio and mobile phones to ensure that no noise distracts your focus. The area should be peaceful and quiet.

You must then select a mantra to start the meditation once you are comfortably seated. The mantra will help keep your mind calm. The mantra can be any word that you think will help you focus.

Now when everything is set you can begin with your meditation. Once you are set to start the meditation you can repeat the mantra.

If you follow these simple meditation techniques then you will not have any difficulty in mastering meditation quickly even if you are only a beginner. Make it a habit to practice meditation at least once a day and you will greatly benefit from good health.

Birth Control Fact Or Fiction

Birth control is big business, with the ring, the pill, IUD’s; and it is said that the average woman uses birth control for an average of three decades. But don’t let that fool you most women report being unsatisfied with their chosen method of contraception.

birth control myths

With more and more women opting out of hormone controlling birth control methods in favor of natural birth control methods; it’s easy to see why big pharmaceutical companies have ramped up their advertising efforts. The biggest gripe women have with most types of birth control is that they simply do not know enough about them. In hopes to clear up some confusion, here are the five biggest birth control rumors BUSTED!

Myth One

Birth control causes weight gain

Fact

The only type of birth control that has been linked with weight gain is the shot. In a recent study, women taking oral contraceptives did not gain more than those using non hormonal forms of birth control. Their body fat increased and lean muscle mass decreases slightly, but this is less likely to occur in women who prioritize exercise a healthy diet.

Myth Two

Suppressing your period is unhealthy

Fact

Most doctors agree that using birth control to skip your period is completely safe; and report that it may even protect your health! The less you menstruate, because of birth control, the lower your risk for ovarian or uterine cancer. However, if you are missing your period and you are not on the pill, consult with your physician, as this could be a sign of something serious.

Myth Three

You don’t need birth control when breastfeeding

Fact

Breast feeding can protect some women from pregnancy by preventing ovulation; but there is no way to tell how long the effects will last. If you aren’t ready for more little ones, protect yourself. 20% of breastfeeding mothers begin ovulating within three months of delivery. Don’t get caught off guard, talk to your physician at your 6 weeks check up about your options.

Myth Four

Getting your tubes tied requires serious surgery

Fact

There are two in office procedure, Essure and Adiana, that take about 10 minutes; in which doctors insert a catheter through your vagina to close off the tubes. Over time your own body tissue grows around them to block the tubes. So you will still need to be careful until healing is complete.

Myth Five

An IUD is an option only after you’ve had children

Fact

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists issued a report stating that IUD’s are safe for women who haven’t yet given birth; and many women report being more satisfied with the IUD than the pill.

Bianca Osbourne is a freelance health writer; she writes voraciously about the foods to eat for great skin and natural birth control options. She believes strongly in a holistic approach to health and wellness.

There may not be a cure for the common cold, but there are ways to find relief.

It’s true that with all the advancements in medicine there still appears to be no real cure for the common cold. But there are plenty of remedies, both natural and man made, that can help relieve the symptoms of a cold. Most people have what they consider surefire helpmates that others may find completely ineffective, but here are a few rules to tending a cold that most everyone can agree on…

relief when having a cold

Rest as much as possible.

Ever spent a day or two at home and then gotten into the car to drive, only then realizing that things weren’t quite right? It is all too easy to think you’re on the mend but then push yourself too hard and make matters worse. If you have sick time available or can afford to rearrange your schedule please rest when you feel the need to.

Pamper yourself.

If a hot bath soothes your aches and helps you breathe better then by all means go for it. Hot herbal tea with honey and lemon is also good. Increase your fluid intake but limit or avoid alcohol until your immune system is stronger. If you can stomach spicy foods like garlic and curries they can help clear out congestion.

Ask for help.

If you’re feeling rotten there are few things nicer than having someone look after you. Whether driving to the store or fixing you homemade soup, being looked after helps you to spend time in the the best way possible, recuperating.

Get a good night’s sleep.

Depending on the severity of your cold you may end up needing cough or sinus medicine just to simply breathe properly, and while laying down to sleep it can be particularly frustrating trying to breathe. Sleep is one of the best healers so even if it means dosing up on nighttime cold and cough medicine the solid night of sleep will most likely seem worth it.

Avoid smoking and smoky bars.

Cigarette smoke is a major irritant to your sinuses and if you have a cold they’re already struggling so why not give them a break? Whenever possible skip the clubs while you have a cold so that you can rest and also avoid passing your sickness on to others.

girl cold

Get up and move.

While resting is imperative it’s also a good idea to move your body some to help break up congestion. Don’t overtire yourself but if you can go for a short and gentle walk while ill it may help you breathe better afterward.

Again, everyone has their own way of tackling a cold but the truth is it’s often just a matter of waiting it out until you feel right again. So rest when you can, drink plenty of fluids and don’t forget to ask for help, when needed.

What is Skin Cancer?

Skin cancer is a condition that causes the cells in the skin to grow abnormally. It typically affects the areas that are frequently exposed to the skin (i.e. face, neck, arms, legs,) but it can develop on other parts of the body. There are three types of skin cancer melanoma, squamos cell carcinoma and basal cell carcimona. Squamos cell and basal carcimona are more common than melanoma. However, melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and the number of people being diagnosed with it has increased drastically over the past few years.

detecting and treating skin cancer

Who is at risk for developing skin cancer?

People who have fair skin are at the highest risk for developing skin condition. Melanin is the pigment that protects the skin from dangerous UV rays. Those who have light skin have less melanin in their skin. Moles, sunburns, weakened immune system and family history also make a person more susceptible to developing skin cancer.

What are some of the symptoms of skin cancer?

An odd-looking mole is the first symptom that most people with skin cancer recognize. The type of mole that a person has depends on the type of skin cancer that he or she has. People who have basal cell carcimona may notice a flat, waxy bump. Those who have squamos cell carcimona may notice a firm, red nodule. A large, dark spot with speckles is a common sign of melanoma. Additionally, a change in preexisting mole may also indicate skin cancer.

How can skin cancer be treated?

Today there are a number of treatment options available for those who have skin cancer. If the cancer has not spread to other parts of the body, the doctor may recommend freezing, laser therapy or excisional surgery. Freezing is a procedure that uses liquid nitrogen to destroy the keratoses (areas of hardened growth.)

Excisional surgery is a procedure where the surgeon removes the cancerous tissue. The doctor may also choose to remove some of the surrounding healthy skin. Laser therapy is a procedure that uses a beam of light to destroy the cancerous growth.

If the doctor finds that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body or that surgery is not a feasible option, he or she may recommend radiation or chemotherapy. Radiation uses ionizing radiation to destroy the cancerous cells. Chemotherapy is a form of therapy that uses chemicals to destroy cancerous cells. The doctor may also order biological therapy, which is a procedure that helps boost the immune system so that the body is more apt to fight cancer.

Can skin cancer be prevented?

In most cases, skin cancer can be prevented. The sun’s UV rays are strongest between the hours of 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. Limiting sun exposure during those times can help prevent skin cancer. If a person has to spend a large amount of time in the sun, he or she should wear sunscreen.

People should also make sure that they avoid using tanning beds because they have also been shown to increase the risk of skin cancer. It is also important to note that skin cancer is much easier to treat if it is detected early enough. For that reason, people should always check their skin for suspicious-looking moles.

Society has seen a move toward a more conscience and healthy wellbeing where people are paying more attention to their bodies and keeping themselves in top form. An important aspect that some people may be forgetting is the importance of foot health. You should have perfectly fitted foot health shoes or boots hanging off boot hangers UKin your cupboard. Your feet are a holistic part of your wellbeing and someone who suffers from poor foot health or even pain may feel terrible in terms of their overall health. Twenty five percent of your body’s bones are in your feet and problems in your feet could extend to back problems, hip problems, lower back problems, headaches and even stomach aces. Bad foot health could contribute to stress levels and emotional stresses like feeling tired all the time and adrenal stress.

foot health and shoes

There are a few precautions people can take to ensure good foot health and as a foot health professional explains in this article, there is help. In this article we are going discuss and list some essential foot health tips and foot health facts including the importance of good shoes to get you started on your foot health care journey.

In terms of some foot health shoes and foot health tips, you should get your feet measured often because feet can change over time and this will affect the size and type of shoes you will buy. If you are on the route to buying shoe, rather shop later in the day as feet swell over the day and will affect the fitting of your shoes. When trying on shoes, wear the specific socks you will ordinarily wear with those shoes.

Tips for choosing a comfortable bed that’s right for you.

A good night’s sleep spells the difference between being productive the next day or feeling tired and overworked. So why do so few people spend the money on a good quality mattress? Why is such an item considered a luxury instead of a necessity? Have we been convinced that we’re just sleeping so what does it matter? The truth is that a poor quality mattress, or a mattress that doesn’t suit your personal sleeping style, can cause great discomfort, even during your waking hours.

girl awake in bed

Choosing firmness.

When choosing a bed one of the biggest mistakes made is to get something that is not firm enough. It’s alright to choose a pillow top mattress but if you go for one lacking in the proper amount of support then your back will most likely start aching within a week or two. A bed’s firmness will also come into play depending on if you sleep on your back, side, or both. When considering a new bed be sure to speak with a specialist in order to get the proper bed that’s suitable to your sleeping style.

If in a relationship you may also find that your idea of comfort does not match that of your partner’s; one of the most popular remedies for such a thing is to spend the extra money to get a bed that can be individually adjusted on each side. These aren’t the cheapest options out there but still may be well worth the money in order to keep both you and your partner happy and comfortable. When choosing a bed size err on the side of roominess so that you and your partner can sleep with ease.

Bed placement.

And whether you believe in Feng Shui properties or not it is highly recommended that the new bed be placed in a way that allows room on each sleeper’s side. If one side has room for a side table the other side should too. It’s not only appropriate and welcoming, it tells your partner that you are equals in the relationship. Whenever possible make sure that neither one of you have to climb out of the foot of the bed, and also be sure to lift the bed off of the floor in order to provide a finished adult look.

girl laying in bed

Bedroom decor.

Once you purchase your new bed don’t hesitate to find a spread and pillows that help truly offer the look and style you crave. Going for a muted jungle theme or ’50s kitsch? It’s doubtless out there so have fun when decorating. When you walk into your bedroom it should effortlessly deliver the effect you choose, be it subtle and soothing or sexy and scintillating. When your bedroom finally depicts the vibe you’re going for, with a bed that is the right quality and type for your sleeping style, you will find yourself waking happier and more refreshed; in short, feeling like a new person.

Pros & Cons of Dulera – Is there another alternative?

Recently, FDA, the Food and Drug Administration passed a drug that can help one take control of asthma, a non-curable but commonly known disease. The name is Dulera. Its addition to a short list of other treatments that all have the same objective, such as Advair, Foradil Symbicort, and Serevent, to reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. But the ingredients drastically separate these medicines to which are the lesser of evils. I have family members and close friends that face mild to severe asthma, once I was aware of this new development, I became very intrigued to learn more.

asthma

Well, Merck & Co. developed Dulera as the new breakthrough treatment for helping those with mild to severe uncontrolled asthma manage and reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. The drug contains two prime components, both with their own unique function . With careful moderation, the use of this dual ingredient treatment eventually clearing inflammatory from the lungs and airways, to breathe more easily. But there’s one little (big) setback with Dulera, your life could be at stake!

Similar to the other popular asthma treatment, Serevent and Foradil, Dulera consists one of the main deadly component, formoterol fumarate. This risky drug stems from the Long-Acting Beta Agonist (LABAs) known to secretly cause build up of additional inflammation in the air passages causing severe damage, ultimately death. Containment of this single element has given Dulera, and competitors, the highest warning label by FDA standards. FDA authorize Dulera to packaged itself in an all black box and have a detailed warning content label stating the risk of consumption, the aforementioned risk above according to FDA.org.

The lesser of the two, inhaled corticosteroid, is the second component comprising of Dulera. It acts as a balancing act of the two in a way made up of mometasome furoate. This ingredient acts as a helping agent to open airways from the inflammatory build up that cause asthma attacks, by relaxing the muscles in the lungs and air passages to be able to comfortably breathe.

With a more knowledge than what I started with about Dulera, I would strongly recommend this treatment to loved ones. This treatment seems to have the complete solution in just one single puff. But beware, once asthma is sustained and able to control with a single ingredient remedy of inhaled corticosteroid, reduce use of Dulera. The consequences are deadly.

Studies have shown that certain groups of food increase asthma symptons such as milk, gluten, and eggs. Madeline Binder, contributor of this article and owner of www.super-science-fair-projects.com, has severe asthma and finds that eliminating these foods from her diet she is able to keep her ashtma under control. She explains her experiment: experiment, “I eliminated one food group at a time to see if there was a difference in my symptoms while staying on my meds. Then, under the supervision of my doctor, I gradually came off the meds.”

Diabetes, and how it can be recognized.

When a human being is busy in his day to day schedule and experience certain changes in health and routine, he or she must immediately go for a health check up. It can be any unknown disease growing in the body outside your knowledge. If you begin with the treatment at early stages, any disease can be cured or controlled. One of the most common illness people are suffering from generations to generations is diabetes.
Diabetes occurs due to many reasons like high sugar and salt intake, tension, pressure, not enough sleep, etc. We should have a proper knowledge about the drawbacks we would face if we are being careless with our health. One can easily make out about diabetes through some general symptoms that are usually found in diabetic patients.

The primary symptom of being a diabetic is frequent urination known as Polyuria in medical terms. Mostly people experience excessive urination in winter season that is quite normal but excessive urination except winter season can point a finger towards diabetes. If one observes this problem should seek immediate check up that is very important.

diabetes

The second important symptom correlated with urination is excessive thirst. If one feels thirsty extra-ordinarily and keeps on drinking water repeatedly, then they should consult to a doctor and go through a diabetes check up. Excessive thirst will lead to excessive urination and both are strong symptoms of diabetes.

Another important symptom can be excessive hunger. If you feel hungry all the time even though you consume food regularly, it can be diabetes. Even after eating loads of food your weight keeps on decreasing each day is another symptom of diabetes. A person experiencing excessive hunger and unexplained weight loss simultaneously should immediately undergo a checkup.

One of the most problematic situations with diabetic patients are slow healing of wounds. When someone gets any hurt or wound, it does not heal speedily and the condition keeps on deteriorating. This sometimes leads to the cutting out of the wounded part from the body. So analyze thoroughly and if a wound does not recover promptly, consult a doctor.

Diabetic patients also catch infections very easily. So if you find any of the above symptoms and could not consult a doctor immediately, try staying away from infected people suffering from jaundice, malaria, typhoid, etc.

Sometimes an individual notice weird behavior in an individual, the mental status keeps changing and mood switches quickly. These things should not be ignored and we should seek a medical help as soon as possible.

People also suffer from eyesight issues like blurry vision when suffering from diabetes. Blurry vision also comes along with age but it is better to see a doctor and clarify about eyesight problem or diabetes. Taking risk all the time does not work.

These are some important symptoms predicting an individual suffering from diabetes. It is better to take precautions in advance and control our hands on sugar and salt intake. Have proper sleep and avoid taking tensions. Practicing this can keep you away from diabetes.

To root out any problem it is best to focus on it early. Therefore, it is important to start with a good web host rather than lose sleep over it later. HostingCoupons.org makes it easy by listing the best dedicated servers and the top vps hosting

There are many techniques to use when dieting, and one of the most effective is the use of soups in place of meals.

There are many techniques to use when dieting, and one of the most effective is the use of soups in place of meals. Soup is great for dieters looking to lose weight for a number of reasons, detailed below.

soup for weightloss

Carbohydrate Control

One of the most effective ways to lose weight is to reduce the amount of carbs you consume. This can be difficult when eating conventional meals; proteins and fats can become tiresome. Soups are a great way to make low carb meals, without the associated boredom. Traditional meat broths are healthy, low in fat, and very low in carbohydrates. Simmer meat (or leftover bones) and vegetables to create your broths, and make sure you remove all unwanted ingredients afterwards. Don’t add any starchy vegetables such as potatoes or parsnips. Meat broths also make great lunchtime meals, or snacks between main meals. They can also be used as stock when cooking other dishes.

Convenience

Soup recipes are one of the most convenient meals you can prepare at home. You can create batches of soups in bulk, and store them in the fridge for a few days, or the freezer for a few weeks. Create a large pot of soup and let it cool. Then separate it into batches using Tupperware pots. Store a few in the fridge, and a few in the freezer, and reheat them when you need a quick and healthy meal. This is incredibly useful when trying to lose weight, as often people eat junk food out of convenience, either because they don’t have the energy to cook something from scratch, or they simply don’t have food in the house. Having pre-prepared soup solves this issue.

5-a-day

It can be difficult to get the recommended five fruit or vegetables a day in to your diet, but with soup recipes, it needn’t be so hard. When creating a large pot of soup, it’s simply a case of raiding your cupboards for ingredients, especially when making a hearty vegetable soup. This means it’s easy to include 4 or 5 different vegetables in one batch of soup. This is great for dieters; vegetables are filling, healthy, and nutritious; essential when trying to lose weight. You can get your recommended 5 vegetables in one bowl of soup, totally guilt free. It’s also a lot easier to eat a warm bowl of soup, than 5 separate portions of vegetables on the side of a conventional meal.

Soups are a great way to lose weight, but remember the dieting fundamentals. Eat small meals, often, and never starve yourself. Avoid saturated fats, and try not to eat too many carbohydrates late in the day.

Quick tips to help you avoid getting sick during flu and cold season

As we head into the cold and flu season, we all become a bit more conscious of random sneezes and coughs throughout the workplace, public transport or supermarket. If you work in high risk zones like schools or hospitals, you may be even more susceptible to catching a cold or flu virus. Parents also run a high risk, as they are put in the position of caring for the contagious. Even in these risky situations, there are measures that you can take that will keep you as safe from contracting a virus as you can be.

cold flu sneeze

Prevent The Spread Of Germs:

The first aspect of protection against contracting an illness is to be vigilant with your personal hygiene. If you know someone around you is sick, you should be sure to encourage certain practices, like sneezing or coughing into a tissue, to avoid spreading bodily fluids or airborne particles.
One should always be attentive to hand washing at many intervals throughout the day. This includes but is not limited to when making food, after using the restroom, and before you eat. You need to adopt more attentive hand washing techniques when someone in your home is exhibiting signs of a cold or a flu. Avoid sharing items such as cups or utensils, but also avoid sharing toothpaste tubes, pillows, blankets or other personal items.

Rest Often, Eat Well:

Get as much rest as you can, including naps and taking down time. Your immune system works better when you’re well rested. Your immune system also works better when equipped with proper nutrition daily. Lots of leafy greens, garlic and healthy proteins are ideal for fighting illness, though remember to check with your doctor before changing your diet significantly.

Disinfect Common Germ-Heavy Areas:

Consider common household objects that are shared and used communally. These objects are often overlooked as places to clean, and should be disinfected with bleach or vinegar especially in times of family illness. Some things you may want to pay close attention to include your stove or microwave, your door knobs and towels, as well as cupboard doors, light switches, lamps and faucets.

Hydrate and Avoid Alcohol or Coffee:
