<p><strong>Carbohydrate Control</strong></p>
<p>One of the most effective ways to lose weight is to reduce the amount of carbs you consume. This can be difficult when eating conventional meals; proteins and fats can become tiresome. Soups are a great way to make low carb meals, without the associated boredom. Traditional meat broths are healthy, low in fat, and very low in carbohydrates. Simmer meat (or leftover bones) and vegetables to create your broths, and make sure you remove all unwanted ingredients afterwards. Don’t add any starchy vegetables such as potatoes or parsnips. Meat broths also make great lunchtime meals, or snacks between main meals. They can also be used as stock when cooking other dishes.</p>

<p>It can be difficult to get the recommended five fruit or vegetables a day in to your diet, but with soup recipes, it needn’t be so hard. This means it’s easy to include 4 or 5 different vegetables in one batch of soup. This is great for dieters; vegetables are filling, healthy, and nutritious; essential when trying to lose weight. You can get your recommended 5 vegetables in one bowl of soup, totally guilt free. It’s also a lot easier to eat a warm bowl of soup, than 5 separate portions of vegetables on the side of a conventional meal.</p>
<p>Soups are a great way to lose weight, but remember the dieting fundamentals. Eat small meals, often, and never starve yourself. Avoid saturated fats, and try not to eat too many carbohydrates late in the day.</p>

<p>Breastfeed! It will be beneficial not only to your baby but to you as well.  It uses up your fat stores and burns up to 500 calories a day.  So, the more you breastfeed, the more you lose weight.</p>
<p>Try to stay away from fast food.  Sure, that quarter pounder looks tempting, but do resist the urge!  If the whole family is heading out to the nearest burger joint, see if they have a salad in the menu, and go for that instead.  Whole grain bread, cereals and pasta are your best bet.</p>
<p>Drink up to 10-12 glasses of water a day.  You stand to lose calories this way, instead of loading up on sugary sodas.  If you get bored drinking plain water, add some lemon zest or try flavored water.</p>
<p>Instead of pigging out on that huge bag of potato chips, snack on popcorn, wheat crackers or nuts.  They’ll still prove to be worthwhile TV companions, without the extra calories.</p>
<p>Try to eat lean meats.  Cut the fat out of your chicken and beef, and you’ll eventually cut out the fat from your hips.</p>
<p>When your doctor gives you the go signal, start exercising.  You can start light by simply taking a 10-minute walk with your baby or with a friend each day.  Gradually increase that to twenty minutes when you feel you’re up to it.  Try different ways of getting your heart pumping.  Whenever possible, take the stairs instead of the elevator.  Park a little further from the mall entrance, so you’ll have more distance to cover when walking.</p>
<p>Don’t rush it, though.  Give it some ample time, and with the right attitude, discipline, exercise and diet, you will be well on your way to getting back your pre-pregnancy shape.  You owe it to yourself and to your newborn baby to be healthy.  Looking good, sans the extra weight, will naturally boost your self-esteem, and in turn, make you a more efficient mother and person.</p>

<p>Cycling to lose weight is indeed effective, because it burns a lot of unwanted calories.&nbsp; If you bike at a fairly moderate speed (12-14 mph), you will burn approximately 235 calories for every half hour.&nbsp; Now, that&rsquo;s really a lot!</p>
<p>Make it a habit to bike for maybe an hour each day. &nbsp;That doesn&rsquo;t seem like much, but that should be enough to sweat buckets and keep calories at bay.&nbsp; On your way to work or school, you could ride your bike instead of taking the bus or subway, for instance.&nbsp; You stand to lose a lot of pounds, and save on gas money or bus fare, if you do this several times a week.&nbsp; Consistency is the key here.</p>

These are the results of an 8 year long research of 26.000 greeks, done by the university of Harvard, which appeared in the British Journal of Cancer.</p>
<p>The research revealed that we should lean more towards the mediteranean diets. In practice, this would mean that we should:</p>
<ul>
<li>Eat more: fruit, vegetables, beans, whole wheats, mono-unsaturated fat (olive oil) and fish.</li>
<li>Eat a little: red wine</li>
<li>Eat less: meat, dairy products.</li>
</ul>
<p>By simply eating less meat and dairy, and replace this by for instance fish and oliveoil, the risk of cancer would lower by 12%. More unsaturated fats (meaning: more olive oil) en less saturated fat (less butter) would lower the risks with another 9%. And a daily intake of 6 of these mediteranean products would result in a decrease of 22%.</p>
<p>I would say, bring on the olives and the sundried-tomatoes with ansjovis! </span>
