Hyperthyroidism symptoms

When the thyroid produces too much thyroid hormone, it is called hypertyroidism. Hyper means too much, and thyroid is the name of the gland, which is found in the neck below the thyroid cartilage (Adam’s apple) and around the same level as the cricoid cartilage. The thyroid controls how the body dealst with its energy, proteins, the other hormones in the body.

Hyperthyroidism causes a sped up metabolism.

The symptoms of hyperthyroidism can be:

- fast heart beat

- palpitation (abnormal beating of the heart)

- being extremely nervous

- restlessness

- fatigue

- always moving

- insomnia

- shaking

- extremely sweating and warm hands

- diarrhea

- weightloss, even when eating more
